PTR & PTS Calculator (2026)
Work out Price to Retailer (PTR) and Price to Stockist (PTS) from any MRP in one tap — with the GST split, what each partner earns per pack and per strip, a reverse calculator from PTS to MRP, and a bulk price list you can download for your whole range. Free, no sign-up, works on your phone.
Where the MRP goes
| Per pack | Before GST | GST | With GST |
|---|
What each partner earns
| Per pack | Per unit | On the order | Margin |
|---|
Formula used: PTR = MRP ÷ (1 + GST%) × (1 − retailer margin%), PTS = PTR × (1 − stockist margin%). Switch to "mark-up on cost" if your trade quotes margins as mark-ups (PTR = MRP before GST ÷ (1 + margin)).

PTR and PTS — frequently asked questions
What is PTR in pharma?
PTR — Price to Retailer — is what a chemist pays for a medicine, before GST. It is the MRP minus GST and minus the retailer's margin: PTR = MRP ÷ (1 + GST%) × (1 − retailer margin%).
What is PTS in pharma?
PTS — Price to Stockist — is what a distributor pays the company, before GST: PTS = PTR × (1 − stockist margin%). The difference between PTR and PTS is the stockist's margin.
How do you calculate PTR from MRP? (worked example)
MRP ₹100, GST 12%, retailer margin 20%, stockist margin 10%: MRP before GST = 100 ÷ 1.12 = ₹89.29. PTR = 89.29 × 0.80 = ₹71.43. PTS = 71.43 × 0.90 = ₹64.29.
Do PTR and PTS include GST?
No — both are quoted before GST and GST is added on the tax invoice. A chemist buying at PTR ₹71.43 with 12% GST pays ₹80.00 per pack and claims the GST back as input credit when selling.
What margins are normal for retailers and stockists in India?
Branded medicines usually carry about 20% for retailers and 10% for stockists; PCD and generic ranges carry more. For scheduled formulations under DPCO 2013, NPPA fixes ceiling prices with a 16% retailer margin built in, and the MRP cannot exceed the ceiling price plus GST — check the latest NPPA notification for your molecule.
What is the difference between margin and mark-up?
A 20% margin on a ₹100 selling price leaves ₹80 as the buying price. A 20% mark-up on cost means the buying price is ₹100 ÷ 1.20 = ₹83.33. Indian pharma trade usually quotes margins on selling price; switch the calculator to "mark-up on cost" if your trade works the other way.
How do I work out the MRP from the PTS I need?
Use the PTS → MRP tab: MRP = PTS ÷ (1 − stockist margin) ÷ (1 − retailer margin) × (1 + GST). Round the MRP up to a printable figure and the calculator shows the PTR and PTS it gives.
